    Furthermore, collagen could be further utilized to surface modification of biologically inert materials, such as polymer materials and metal materials, which are always hydrophobic, lacking functional groups and poor cell adhesion. Therefore, various strategies have been tested to improve the properties of these materials including plasma deposition processes, surface immobilization of biopolymers (e.g. gelatin, chitosan, collagen), attachment of bioactive MPI-0479605 sale (RGD peptide) and surface mineralization [49,50]. The group of InĂªs Sousa modified PCL scaffold with plasma treatment, then acrylic acid grafting and collagen immobilization to improve the hydrophily and cell adhesion of PCL [51].
